BOOM. Three way. Duchene traded mid-game. Turris also signing on in NSH for 6 years/36 mil.
I'm alright with what we got, 3 solid prospects and picks. Girard looks good.
Too much from Ottawa. Not good value for them at all. The difference between Turris and Duchene is not what they gave up.
meh, if you look at it deeper it makes more sense. getting duchene now buys the sens an extra year to sort out their cap nightmare with ryan and duchene. also i dont particular think you give turris a 6x6 to be a #1C, hence why he can be a #2C in Nashville. Also the sens do this trade without giving up any of their "big" prospects, and first rounders after pick 20 always are a crap shoot and may take 3-4 years to develop. Sens need to be in a win now mind fame with Anderson's age and also showing we are in a place to win with Karlsson.
not gonna say that im delighted with the trade but maybe deluding myself of those reasons makes me sleep better at night.
Wow , ottawa screwed that one up
I need to write it down...
2017 first round prospect
2018 first round pick
2019 3rd round pick
And Duchene may not even be an upgrade over Turris at all.
Ottawa gave up Turris, 1st, 3rd, Hammond, and Bowers for Duchene.
Duchene is over the moon to be leaving that tire fire
Turris contract negotiations were going badly; rumour was he wasn't returning.
Hammond is ass.
Bowers/1st (lottery protected)/3rd is a fair amount to give, but if they get Duchene signed to an extension I think it's worth.
To me NSH overpaid worse for Turris with Girard/Kamenev/2nd.
That's exactly what i said. ...
I misread the 'first round prospect' as pick since you didn't say Bowers by name.
I couldn't remember the name and was too lazy to look it up
dorion said in presser today that turris's camp never gave him the option for 6 year contract, only 7/8. which i understand the sens not wanting to do.
the fact that the sens got duchene without having to give up any of their top 6-7 prospects is actually impressive.
kamenev couldn't seem to make the jump to the next level (altho he's a solid AHL guy right now and i liked him and wish he got time last playoffs with all the injuries) and girard was gonna be blocked by josi/ekholm forever + they have allard/farrance/carrier anyway. girard was nice but definitely not going to be more than a 3rd pairing guy on nashville. the 2nd is meh.
personally i'm happy that girard will get the chance to play lots of minutes (hopefully, and if not he'll get to play in the world juniors fingers crossed!) in colorado and hopefully kamenev can get some games in to get his feet a little more wet, too. they did give up some good pieces, but it doesn't really hurt them giving any of them up. i think every team should come away happy from this trade tbn.
Really excited to see Duchene play, fast skater and he has moves
Wasn't sure about the trade before but after reading your comments I agree and I think it'll turn out to be a good trade for Ottawa if he re-signs
The Senators were playing Turris a lot, I really liked him as a player but I don't think he can continue playing as well as he was in previous seasons, he'll be a good 2nd line center for Nashville but they paid too much to re-sign him
Looks like a great deal for Avs.. I remember when everyone was expecting Duchene to be next Y19/Sakic, so if he can be 75% of what Joe or Y were, it's maybe good trade for Sens too.
btw really weird/funny to be informed about trade to other team during game lol
It would be even better if they waited for Avs-Sens game or if he was traded in between the two back2back games
A trade while they're playing in Stockholm would have been something.
knowing how cheap melnyk is, im actually surprised that he didn't wait so he wouldn't have had to fly duchene to ottawa before.
I was kinda hoping Duchene would just bum a ride on the Avs plane.
guess duchene will be flying coach with three changes to get from ottawa to stockholm
girard is gifted.. now he just needs to get some size to not get pushed around.. never had a top 4 spot in Nashville, for at least 7ish years.but he's talented for sure
Haha, yea I noticed they have 2 games in a row cuz I have C.Anderson at yahoo.. 1st game for Avs, trade, 2nd game for Sens, that would be interesting. ;D
Are you going? Wiz would be there and I just told him a week ago that if it'd have been COL-DAL games I'd have forced you two go there together.
Wiz? I didn't even hear from him since 4 (maybe even 5) years lol, you just told me about his marriage weeks ago at PT and that's all I know about him..
Well he's still that same great Avs fan. ...and somekind of haxor who had found a way to buy tickets to Stockholm games even before they came available outside Sweden.
He was a Caps fan for at least 2-3 seasons (it was around 7-8 years ago), so I guess he needed some break from Avs and now he can cheer for them again.. ;D
